    The big photo gallery fix

    • Changed gallery layout to a column based arrangement. Now looks much nicer across all screen sizes

    • Improved load times and simplified image-url handling.

    • Added feedback when user tries to right click anywhere inside gallery component.

    Image carousel finishing touches

    • Added image information panel

      Moved all carousel controls to central information panel

      Added carousel auto-play function; timing might need tweaking

    • Fixed buggy carousel loading. Images should now load properly when navigating, and not jump between previous images.

    Tweaked and adjusted image gallery and layout

    • Added image loading indicators and more stable transition between states.

      Made carousel navigation interface less intrusive. (Might have hidden them slightly too much so I’ll revise these again)

      Adjusted gallery layout and spacing for smaller screens.

    • (Edit): Added some more attention to the carousel navigation. Now a little bit more cooperative and not so interested in hiding completely. Also, the carousel is keyboard navigable with left/right!

    Photo gallery is live

    • Added function to image carousel. The whole thing is still very experimental as an exercise in what I can get done without implementing any React libraries.

      It doesn’t handle loading the images while navigating the carousel very well. Especially for large screens when loading the biggest file sizes. Also the gallery grid is a bit wonky on mobile, which will need to be adjusted.

      The main goal was just to push something that I can upload my photographs to and display them.

    Server tweaks and bug fixing

    • Fixed server rendering issue.
    • Added logs to file on build.
    • Updated Next.js to version 14.2.14

    Published site.

    pnbakken.com is live. Still not even halfway through everything I’d like to include for a version 1.0, but in times like these needs must.

    Took down photo gallery. One of the earliest features I made but I’ve grown unhappy with it. It needs a bit more love and attention before I’m comfortable showing it.

    Main goal has been to just get the website out, so I have a more tangible thing to mold and form going forwards.
